EIN DEUTSCHES REQUIEM – The London version The first English performance of Ein deutsches Requiem took place July 10th, 1871 in the home of the pianist and composer Kate Loder, later Lady Thompson, the wife of surgeon Sir Henry Thompson. Her fellow pianist was eighty year old Cipriano Potter and the baritone soloist was Julius Stockmeyer. They used a piano duet version prepared by the composer. This version has become known as the London Version and is performed on this CD in a live recording from June 13th 2013.
